Our History

The origin of HIT-NOT® goes back to 1995 and Frederick Energy Products (FEP), founded by Larry Frederick, former NASA and Teledyne engineer. Frederick’s career included critical work on the Jupiter rocket program, the Apollo missions, Skylab, and the Space Shuttle.

FEP’s first commercial proximity system, HazardAvert®, was created to save lives in the mining industry and was the first proximity detection system approved by the Mine Safety and Health Administration. In 2012, the HazardAvert® architecture was adapted for forklifts and other mobile equipment, leading to the launch of HIT-NOT®.

In Memory of Andrew Nichols

Andrew played a foundational role in shaping HIT-NOT® and advancing its mission to eliminate forklift and pedestrian incidents in industrial environments. His leadership and commitment to protecting people continue to influence the direction of the company today.

We honor his legacy by continuing the work he believed in, by continuing to innovate and build technology that helps prevent accidents and save lives, so employees can go home to their family each day.
