How HIT-NOT® Works

The HIT-NOT® Proximity Alert System uses our patented pulsed low frequency magnetic technology to produce precise detection zones that can pass through walls and structures. Unlike standard RF technologies or Cameras , HIT-NOT® reliably reads and warns through walls, racks, containers and other blind corner obstructions with audible and visual alerts to both the equipment driver and the pedestrian. HIT-NOT®’s expansive architecture provides PedestrianDetection, Collision Avoidance for Equipment and Structures, Traffic Control and Data Analytics.

The core of the system is the HIT-NOT® unit installed on the forklift. The following features are available – they can all be implemented at once or expanded/modified with time as your facility needs change. HIT-NOT® has maintained backwards compatibility since the beginning.

Pedestrian Detection

The HIT-NOT® proximity alarm sensor is designed for industries using mobile equipment, like warehouses, manufacturing, and others where equipment and pedestrians work in close proximity.. The Personal Alarm Device (PAD) is worn by the pedestrian – with multiple wearing options – and contains elements that sense the magnetic field from the Magnetic Field Generator mounted on the mobile equipment – which only requires power from the machine. When magnetic fields are detected, warnings are given to the pedestrian and vehicle operator simultaneously. The adjustable magnetic field is divided into two zones: Warning Zone and Danger Zone. Each zone has a distinct alert.

Additionally, the area monitoring solution creates a pedestrian alert zone in areas where a forklift occasionally visits, such as a production assembly area. The pedestrians in this area may not be equipped with a PAD, but will be alerted by a facility mounted strobe light, horn, or other signaling device when a HIT-NOT® equipped forklift enters their defined area.

Collision Avoidance

(Equipment, Robots, and Structures)

When a forklift or powered vehicle is outfitted with HIT-NOT® Collision Avoidance Modules, or CAMs, both vehicle operators will receive an audible and visual alert when they are in close proximity. There are multiple user-selectable alert options available. These alerts are reliable in view-obstructed scenarios such as trucks backing out of trailers on shipping docks into a roadway. HIT-NOT® effectively alerting the manned equipment operator of potential collisions with hard to see autonomous vehicles(AVs) by installing a unit on the AGV or AMR. Additionally, the AV can be provided a signal when a forklift is in proximity. HIT-NOT®’s Mobile Responder Device mounts discretely to AVs – requires low voltage power. Equipment operators can also be alerted to structures or other facility hazards with the use of the HIT-NOT Structure Monitors. These are facility mounted devices – with facility powered or battery powered versions – that provide a signal to the operator when they are too close to the marked facility element.

Traffic Control

The HIT-NOT® system has multiple accessory devices available for traffic control. These devices can be used to control an intersection, create exclusion zones, control access to areas with gate integration, among others. Additionally, the system can create defined slow zones – automatically slowing the forklifts in specific areas. Fundamentally, this works by installing a facility device whether facility powered or battery powered to meet the operational requirements of the area that communicated with the HIT-NOT System or PAD.

Data Analytics & Trends

HIT-NOT® systems are dataready. To remotely access the system status, proximity event trends, and other operational data available, add HIT-NOT® Data Relays to your facility and subscribe to the online user portal.
